Obsolete

Found a fantastic art shop/gallery courtesy of a fellow Deviant Art colleague. This person paid me the compliment of saying that my work reminded him/her of the art seen here. (Ha! WRONG!!! I wish!) Still, it's a fantastic site, full of interesting and unusual art...well worth the visit...go see Obsolete

Blood Countess-WIP

Been working on this sculpt and neglecting everything else! Am finally getting near the end - phew! Anyway, she is supposed to be Elizabeth Bathory, aka The Blood Countess (1560-1614), possibly the world's first known serial killer (and boy, did she do a series...rumored to have killed approximately 600 young girls). She supposedly slapped a servant girl, drawing blood, and she became quickly convinced that the blood made her look younger. She bathed and drank the blood of the virgins until the priest and village people grew suspicious (duh). She was finally convicted of killing 60+ girls (I think) and was walled up in her room where she ultimately died.
Since m'lady enjoyed luxuriating in the bath, I decided to sculpt her just alighting from the tub, still dangling her little tootsies in the nice, warm blood, hence the classic pin-up pose for this wicked but beautiful lady.
Have a bit more to do on her and may change the hair around but thankfully, my relationship with this devious woman is nearing an end...

Bride of Frankenstein Gone Wrong

Ok, I made this for a friend on Deviant Art...she really likes blood and gore but I had to have a story to go along with the horror...what to do? lo and behold, I'm browsing through a photographic art book of fantastic "stunning and hyperrealistic " pics by Jeffery Scott (1019) and I happen upon a piece he has entitled "no more animal testing" -- nasty looking subject but oh so cool photo manipulation...so I think, "what if the Bride of Frankenstein went wrong?" might look similar to this...hmmm.... My friend wants to be surprised so I haven't loaded pics on DA yet as I'm boxing up the doll set now....anyway, if anybody has an opinion, let me hear it...otherwise, enjoy looking at a little blood and horror this Friday evening....

one completed and one WIP

well, finished my "death's burden--the plague of 1350 revisited"...and I must say that I don't think its one of my best...it just didn't meet my initial expectations--well, live and learn...perhaps I shall try the same theme again in a different way--but not for awhile...have been working on my "dragonlady"--a bust--which I have never tried before--so far, I'm pleased...anybody have any suggestions, please yell...I am always open to criticism, be it good or bad...
on another note--we got snow!!! haven't had snow here in years and this was a good one--@ 5 inches! my horses stepped out of their stalls and looked outside and promptly snorted and pawed...like, "what the hell is this?" of course, everything came to a screeching halt--malls closed, schools, etc...this area has no idea how to handle this stuff (Virginia Beach)...its been a blast as far as I'm concerned!

post halloween blues

well,I'm gonna' try this one more time...sat down to write this a couple days ago and then deleted the whole thing by accident. So, I finally got some words down for the second time, my daughter sits down at MY computer and deletes all those! Thoroughly pissed off by this time, I shoved my chair away from the damn computer and well, took a break (with the help of a nice glass of merlot). Anyway, here I am, hoping against hope that the evil little gargoyle who lives inside my computer won't come up with another little prank...
So! The big day has come and gone and my first real Halloween yardhaunt/party/haunted house was a success. I've been feeling quite smug about the whole thing and I must say that the toil and trouble and feverish activities I've engaged in for the past few months were definitely worth it! All had a great time and enjoyed the spooky decor and graveyard. Unfortunately, the pics proving my success came out poorly--well, actually, they DIDN'T come out. As I was running about like a mad woman tending to the party and the graveyard, I delegated photographer duties to my sister. Neither she nor I have experience in taking photos of haunts and that became obvious as we previewed the pics. Hopefully, some of the party attendees will have a few good ones I can share. All in all, I had a blast and I thank all the 'Haunter Greats' out there who so generously shared their knowledge and expertise with all of us newbies to the HauntWorld!
That's about it...have shifted my creative energies back to the art doll world for now and have made some belated progress with my little 'monster under the bed'...
Enjoy Life!
