New Work

Finished a couple more sculpts...first one is titled "The Monster's Lament" and the second is "Ghost". Was a bit melancholy when I made these, you know, sort of hiding within myself kind of mood. As usual, I can't take pics worth a flip (altho' Ghost didn't come out too badly). Just thought I'd share them with you...

  1. I love signing in and seeing such wonderful creations waiting to be breathed in. The first - whether by the way she's photographed or the composition of her base - has a wonderful sense of ascension. Not just rising up, but really drifting away.

The Monster has all the usual brilliant elements that make for second glances and thoughtful study. I'm a fan of seeing found objects worked into sculpts, and you've used them in just the right ways to detail the work without taking away from your skills. This creature is carefully balanced between mad science and glowering emotion.

  2. That little ghost is awesome. He really makes you feel the melancholy. Good work. They're both very creepy.

  3. thanks, guys...I have some quotes that I added to the descriptions of these sculpts: the monster: "Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded"--Mary Shelley. the ghost: "'Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes contagion to this world"--Shakespeare (Hamlet)
